Social Network of African American Conservatives & Moderates
I am a 26 year old black constitutional conservative. I am smart, caring, analytical, opinionated, hard working, and an overall good woman. Yet to many in black liberal America I am simply a “sell-out” an “uncle tom,” an “oreo,” or my favorite, I am “pandering to the white man because I am ashamed of my race.”
Well, with comments from black Americans like that then yes, I AM ASHAMED! For some reason, “blackness” has come to mean ignorance, liberal, talking a certain way, wearing certain clothes, participating in certain sports, and voting for a certain party. Thinking for oneself, loving your country, understanding and embracing the free market capitalist system, and loving your Constitution means you are not “black” but instead you are a “house negro” or a “token” for the Republican party.
When I debate these black liberals, my ideas, my brain, my facts and my philosophy have no place on the table—but sadly my color and my gender are always on the forefront. If this isn’t racism/sexism then what is? If this isn’t self-hate then what is?
Is this what black America has become? If this is the new definition of “blackness” I will gladly turn in my black card right now. For as Harriett Tubman stated, “I would have freed a thousand more slaves…if only they knew they were slaves.” Quite frankly, Harriett, I never understood that quote until very recently.
There is a sickness in black America and it must be addressed. Regardless of politics or ideology, the fact of the matter is there is severe racism in black America—absolute self-hatred—and I am suppose to be concerned with white America? How can we as black people expect whites to treat us with dignity and respect when I am told by my fellow black (liberal) men that I am nothing more than a “bitch hoe trying to go down on the white man just to get my foot in the door.” How can black people ever overcome the disaster zones we call our inner-cities, poverty, and 70% of black children raised without a father when black America allows black women to be treated so horribly? Newsflash: WE CAN’T!!
ENOUGH!
We all know the biggest destruction to our country and specifically black America is the lack of identity, purpose, and leadership of men. Black men specifically have been replaced by big daddy government. Instead of bread winners Uncle Sam puts food on too many tables. Instead of providers, big daddy government is paying for too many of our needs. Instead of protectors we have far too many black liberal men degrading black conservative women simply because we think differently than their definition of “blackness.”
Now, I have tons of liberal friends—liberal black male friends—and they defend me, protect me, and stand up for me on a daily basis for the attacks I receive. So of course I am not putting all liberal black men in a box—but sadly today, insulting a black conservative is not just common place, it is expected and dismissed as if “we asked for it” and deserve harsh treatment. And if you are a black conservative woman, expect the attacks to be more severe, abusive, and sometimes downright scary. There are TONS of good black men in this country—but it is time they stood up and started protecting and defending their women, themselves, and destroy this self-hatred the left has infected too many of us with.
The mental enslavement in liberal black America is evident, and until this is addressed and opposed, not only will more black Americans choose to sit silently out of fear, more importantly our communities will never improve. And although we no longer have the physical chains on our arms and necks, we damn sure still have them on our brains---and the white man has nothing to do with it!
The following are just a few experiences my fellow black conservative women have faced—not by the evil white man, but by our own. I am calling on the Congressional Black Caucus to make black-on-black racism a policy objective to address and I am asking the Chairman of the CBC to refuse to work with, support, or appear with these black liberals or institutions that insult their fellow blacks simply because we choose to use the brains God gave us and reach a different conclusion. We buried the “n-word” it is time to bury “sell-out” as well.
I am in no way asking for any black person to be a constitutional conservative, I am asking—no DEMANDING—black America stop the ignorance, hate, and blatant attacks on black conservatives and once and for all remove the mental chains that have kept you shackled for so long. And lastly, I am DEMANDING the GOP step up and defend our black conservative leaders. To sit back and watch as men like Allen West, Tim Scott, Herman Cain, and JC Watts are attacked day in and day out shows how cowardly the GOP has become. So in short, I am asking for the REAL MEN OF AMERICA TO PLEASE STAND UP and take a stand—as Sarah Palin made clear in 2008: the women have been doing all the work; it is time for the men to get it together! And why? Well as constitutional conservatives we know that it starts with the family. If men are not at the forefront of this fight then it is pointless.
The following are just three examples of the vile, filth, and down-right racism many black conservative women face on a daily basis.
Example 1: Congressional Candidate Charlotte Bergmann, in an effort to reach out to ALL of her district, appeared in-studio on 1180 WLZX. A blues radio station hosted by black mentally-enslaved, sorry excuse of a man, liberal, Thaddeus Matthews. Mr. Matthews (and I use this term loosely) treated Ms. Bergmann like a dog. Not because he didn’t agree with her views, but because she was a black republican. For example, Mr. Matthews started his “debate” with Ms. Bergmann asking if she as a black woman was supporting Barack Obama. Interesting. Why does Ms. Bergmann’s color matter? Are we all supposed to stand up and say, “yes Massa” and vote for Obama just because of his pigment? Did Mr. Matthews expect her to fall in line and do as she is told because her color—not her brain—must define her every move, action, and thought process? Apparently so. When Ms. Bergmann revealed she respects the man (President Obama) but not his ideology Mr. Matthews went into a tailspin—his low self-esteem and self –hate ignited with a burst of anger at Ms. Bergmann:“Get Your Stupid Ass Out of my studio….I‘m Scared Your ’Whiteness’ might rub off on me.” His ignorance and hatred didn’t stop there. He made sure to call her a “bougie Negro” a “token” to the tea party, and other routine typical responses only the enslaved mind can articulate.
Ms. Bergmann beautifully illustrated the black liberal mindset and the effects self-hate has had on our communities: “Is this the way black women are treated in Memphis, throughout our nation? Could this be the reason there is a break down in many of the black families whose young people give up and end up in jail, in gangs, on drugs, and eventually hardened enough to murder…” Yes, Ms. Bergmann it is. If “men” like Thaddeus Matthews claim to “represent the black community” and he is treating black women like this openly with no shame on the air, it no wonder we are where we are today. How can we tell a young black boy to respect women when men like Mr. Matthews are on the air-waves?
Ironically, Mr. Matthews was challenged to a debate by three black conservative men---he never responded to the invitation. Apparently Mr. Matthews can attack black women, but he has absolutely no courage to debate a real man. Sadly, this happens a lot. Whenever I am attacked or I receive sexually explicit comments, my male friends—of all political spectrums—are there to defend my honor and integrity; interestingly they can never get these bigots to respond to their request for a conversation.
Example 2: Vanessa Anderson, a black conservative from San Diego, California provided me this statement regarding the treatment she receives from many black liberal men: “I am rabidly, and unapologetically Conservative. Once Liberals find this out, especially Black Liberals men, they unleash their vitriol and refer to me as Black bitch, whore, slut and even the “C” word. Vile sexual references are also quite common; “suck my you know what”, is a phrase they love to say. I’ve also been physically threatened. The way Black Liberal men openly and easily share their desire to sexually and physically abuse a Black Conservative woman is abysmally pathetic. There are no words.”
Example 3: Crystal Wright is the Principal of the BakerWright Group, a Washington, DC Public Relations firm, and also creator of the blog conservativeblackchick.com. Crystal was on CNN providing the conservative view of the SOTU speech. Afterwards, Crystal received these comments from black liberal men: Cedric the Entertainer tweeted, “Who is this wack…bioooootch on CNN?” A black liberal man named Walter tweeted in response, “Her name is Crystal Wright, a black female republican, oxymoron, dumb bitch.” Notice they weren’t criticizing what she said---just attacking the fact her views didn’t align with their definition of “black.” Apparently, treating a black conservative woman like trash is common place in black liberal America.
And we’re the sell-outs!?!?!
Funny, it seems the only people trying to get back on the plantation are black liberal. Black conservatives left a long time ago when we realized we are just as capable, logical, intelligent, and diverse in our thoughts, views, opinions, and ideologies as everyone else. Maybe the black liberal should recognize they are free and start acting like it. Black conservatives believe black people are capable and intelligent; sadly too many black liberals don’t believe so. Maybe this is exactly why our children are raised without fathers, our young men are in prison, and black conservative women are demanding a change. Ms. Tubman’s quote, sadly is more relevant today than it was 200 years ago. Will the REAL MEN please stand up?!?!? This isn’t about politics; this is about how we view ourselves as a people. We can’t demand respect until we first demand it of ourselves, and the black man must take the lead!
Comment by Erin Platt on March 7, 2012 at 3:47pm Beautiful writing Shelby! I am a left winger, but believe in and stand up for the right for anyone to be what they want. Sadly, what you said here is the same for all the "groups" in each party. They give us this "all or nothing" agenda that we are to believe and follow, or we are not loyal to "the party."
I always thought when it came to "womens' rights," it was the right to be who we are, whatever that is, and be what we want to be. It is about choices. Whether that be a housewife or a high powered lawyer. Black conservatives scare Democrats because the more there are - the more it becomes apparent that that Republicans don't hate black people - they hate that they vote for Democrats 90% of the time. Although I am white, my family owns a union business - so trust me - we get it.
The best example I can give is what they are doing with Ron Paul. They are actually holding onto some racist letters ghost written by someone else from the early 90's in case he got nominated. Really? My party is going to purposely hurt the young African American children who will have to see that - and their parents who will have to relive it again over a lousy election? Besides, Paul is the one who wants to cut off funding for "drug wars" and pass The Fair Sentencing Act. I know... You think liberals always look at African Americans in those terms. But I am talking about my professional and just working class black freinds who are harassed and pulled over for no reason because of the laws that are in place. I live in the midwest drop off center for durgs... Reason.com had a great write up on it awhile back. Reason: Free Minds and Free Markets

At any rate, I am really enjoying your posts. It's a shame you narrative will never make it to main stream media, because they make a lot of money off the current one...
