I got an early American History Month ( my name for Black History Month ) gift: news that rapper Shawty Lo's reality TV show, " All My Babies Mamas " has been cancelled!

Comment by Chris Arps on January 16, 2013 at 9:59am This was a show concept that was so outrageous, that I can't believe they thought it would survive the public uproar!

I had read about "Baby Mamas" getting the ax at Big Hollywood, and was about to give you the heads up. But you beat me to it. :)
You are correct that the show was nearly aired because too many of us (Black people) tolerate and even celebrate the implosion of the Black family in real life. And even greater blame can be laid at the feet of our so-called leaders like the NAACP.
Blogger Ryan Bomberger's scathing criticism of the NAACP's role in Black culture's disintegration can be applied to most of the civil rights elite:
What better way for an out-of-touch liberal organization to celebrate itself than in the land of make believe? The NAACP’s 44th Annual Image Awards honor black imagery churned out by often racist, anti-Christian, perpetually sexist, violent and pornographic Hollywood. Just skim the list of nominees and one is left with an overwhelming feeling: emptiness.
Django Unchained, with its graphic violence and 100 plus uses of the racially denigrating epithet, “nigger”, gets praise and nominations from the NAACP. “Lincoln”, a powerful film of historical substance, completely eliminates the most potent influence in Lincoln’s ideology and evolution on slavery—Frederick Douglass. There’s no protest from the NAACP, just a nomination.

So, we must be bold enough to fight both our sellout leaders and those thugs they excuse and glamorize. The swift demise of "Baby Mamas" is proof that this can be done and that we could gain support from Black liberals who are equally ticked off at such buffoonery.
Take care and God bless.
