FIGHTING CRIME IS A NEW CIVIL RIGHTS MARCH!

Fighting crime means more than locking people up or so popular wisdumb ( no typo! lol ) goes. Granted in a down economy there comes a point where jail space must be reserved for the most eggregious bad actors instead of folks driving without licenses and other non-offenses.

Excommunication; banishment; " getting the boot! " etc are methods Black elites hate but grassroots victims victims of chocolate klansmen love, I type this in Louisiana, a state with the dubious distinction of having more people incarcerated than anywhere else in America.

While not one to defend redneckery I'm also can't go to bat for the behavior allowing certain segments of our community to throw themselves into police hands. Until this segment modifies its behavior I fear all  Black middle class hand wringing over their imprisonment-prone habits is for naught.

We may have to write off a percentage of our so-called brothers and sisters as hopeless. I know this flies in the face of bleeding hearts on both sides of the divide but ugly realities demand it. Unless an individual meets assistance half way; in this instance by reducing felonious conduct to zero, said assistance is better spent elsewhere.

Black activists should think long and hard on the following fact: racial guilt is less influential on White citizens of Baby Boomer; Generation X & Y vintage. They're quick to rebut guilt trips with heated counterpoints about integrated life experiences and distance from America's Apartheid past.

 

" Guilt trip " isn't used to demean historic wrong done to Americans of African ancestry. It means assigning guilt to people generations removed from the offense is a stretch.

 

Crime is one of those issues where today's White folks simply aren't as willing as predecessors to accept blame for our criminality. Frankly, it's not their fault. The answer to discrimination has never been petty crime and homicide.

Racist mayors; city councils; county commissions; state legislatures; congressional delegations; Congress and the White House explain why apst conditions were so blatantly unfair but cannot excuse present criminal choices.

Fighting crime is a 21st Century civil rights march for Black folks who've become de facto conservatives crusading for safety and sanity in the face ofextreme disorder. Traditionalism becomes the only logical response.

This is also a cultural conservatism that isn't a function of Republican Party membership.

We fight for faith; family and lawful self-defense not because of local GOP committee directives but as  self-preservation.

 

That's not to say that White conservatives and Republicans can't be allies in this bumpy social ride.

To their credit many have warmed to the idea that Black citizens as crimefighters isn't a coup in disguise.

Brutal honest dictates mentioning a primal fear of Black uprisings in the White American Subconsciousness. Some instinctive part still frets whether we'll unite against them in a orgy of racial payback. Its their part of the bad software Americans of both ethnicities still carry.

 QUICK CHECKLIST:

No living White American owns slaves. Check.

No living Black American is a slave. Check.

Anybody Black who says White oppression made him into a criminal is a con artists; insane or both. Check.

Fighting crime is our latest civil rights march where now we strive to save ourselves and White neighbors in our cities from a Black segment who've declared war on anyone who isn't vulgar and violent like them. If we don't march against this segment America will surely march against the inner city and may not be able to tell friend from foe.

Fighting inner city crime is Black America's latest epic challenge. Some sit on the sidelines, praying all this drama ends by osmosis.

Others, like the Detroit 300 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26HYxzOvMYw; Mad Dads; Peace Keepers and New Orleans Brothers Against Crime aren't content to sit this one out.

They march daily because there is no other choice!

Were they alive icons like Medgar Evers; Paul Robeson; Malcolm X and Dr. King would be leading the charge against inner city crime.

Since we're here the ball is now in our court.
