"No Trespassing": A Law That Must Be Disobeyed To Reach The Urban Conservative

Martin and his father stood outside of Lucas Oil Stadium for 2 hours after the Indianapolis Colts season had ended. They were waiting to greet future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning. Martin's father expected merely a wave and a smile from the tired gridiron hero. Martin expected more. The quarterback waved to the fans and continued to walk towards the player's parking lot. Martin's father followed the other fans towards the fans parking lot satisfied that the great champion had merely waved. Martin was not, however. Martin broke away from his father's hand, jumped over three sets of metal barriers, slid pass security and arrived at the player's parking lot door with security en tow. He thought to himself, "If I stop here then, I'll just be in trouble with my parents. But, if I go through the door, I have a chance at least for an autograph!" The door swung back and there was Peyton Manning placing his bags in his trunk. As his father and security caught up to him, Martin yelled out to the quarterback and threw him his football. Turning, Payton caught it and let out a big laugh. "You mean to tell me that this little boy outran you guys?" Still smiling, Peyton reached into his bag and gave him the "Game Ball". The only signature missing was his. Looking into the boys deep brown eyes, the gridiron great said, "I will only sign it if you promise me that you pursue good grades like you pursued me and if, you continue to obey your parents!" Martin sheepishly smiled and prudently responded, "YES!" Martin turned to his father with more than he expected. In spite of the correction to come, he risked everything to disobey a "no trespassing" sign and came away with the ultimate prize.

In the world of politics, I often wonder why leaders in some political parties have not pursued the conservative Afro-American community as Martin pursued Peyton Manning. I am no great theoretician however, from my readings, I have discerned that Afro-Americans [that's Black Non-Hispanic to the hip liberal Census crowd] are truly more conservative than their Caucasian [that's White now, ya hear] ilk. Statistics show over and over again that Afro-Americans are truly a religious people whether in the city or out in the country. Pew reports that members of Baptist churches account for one-third of all Protestants and close to one-fifth of the total U.S. adult population. Baptists also
account for nearly two-thirds of members of historically black
Protestant churches (http://religions.pewforum.org/reports/). Nearly 90% of Afro-Americans believe in God compared to 70% of the US population and over 50% attend weekly services compared to the US population (http://pewforum.org/African-Americans-and-Religion.aspx). It is not a shock that the more likely a person believes in God the more likely he is conservative on political, social and fiscal issues. In a 2009 Gallup Ideological Identification of Major US Racial and Ethnic Groups (http://www.gallup.com/poll/125579/Asian-Amhttp://moveonup.ning.com/...) only Asians are distinct from the other racial and ethnic groups in their
ideological orientation. Asians are the most likely to identify
themselves as politically liberal. In that poll, even in urban areas, the conservatives in each race account for 42% of non-Hispanic whites, 34% of Hispanics and 29% of non-Hispanic Blacks. Among Republicans today, conservatives are more likely to be Protestant,
much more likely to be religious, and are, on average, older than
moderate/liberal Republicans. They also consist more heavily of men,
whites, and those living in the South -- but the differences here are
not as pronounced (http://www.gallup.com/poll/143231/Conservatives-Dominate-Republican...). To my Hispanic and non-Hispanic Black brethren, which group is seen most often in church: our elders [I define as over 40.] In that voter turnout is generally much greater among middle-aged and older...,
it is likely that conservative (and religious) Republicans have had an
even greater voice in Republican Party primaries this year than their
numbers suggest. Hence, knowing all of this, why isn't the GOP or any other Conservative group knocking down the doors of Urban Black America. I believe it is because they believe the Myth of the No Trespass Sign.

The Myth of the No Trespass Sign begins with the idea that Afro-Americans are born with 48 chromosomes unlike all other's 46 chromosomes. Our extra pair carry the genes liberal and Democrat. Hence, we are born Democrats and must die as a Democrat. In addition, the gene kicks in only in the voting booth. We may espouse conservative principles (low taxes, work for what you want, etc) but once we are in a darkened poll, we must choose the most liberal, dysfunctional politician or the one that gave us our first summer job to represent us. In fact, this gene is so effective that 80% - 95% of Afro-Americans in any one election will vote for a liberal Democrat. We will drive, no less upon a faux paved way, pass an empty shopping center, 2 or 3 crack houses to vote in a malfunctioned, dilapidated school for a candidate that constantly promises spare change and hopelessness. Our reason: he or she has never let us down. Why does the gene kick in and when reason should have brought me home last night? Maybe we have evolved to this self-fulfilling plight. In Setting The Record Straight: American History in Black and White, David Barton notes that after the Civil War there were 444,000 blacks and only 383,000 whites in the State of Mississippi. Per Barton," And since blacks voted overwhelmingly Republican, only by preventing them from voting could Democrats defeat the new State constitution with its civil rights provisions--hence, the cause of violence." Yes, Democrats and the Klan spent the next one hundred years terrorizing Black and White Republicans. For the sake of survival, Blacks voted against their own interests and installed their enemies. Through fear, the Democrat Party has sunk its talons into Black America. The sake of survival, indoctrination of progressive values, union and political patronage and a settling for the entitlement state have uniquely corrupted the free will of Black voters and falsely "united" such voters to their end.

The Myth roars out to alternative thinkers and voices that their efforts are futile. Such party leaders believe that Blacks knowingly choose their candidates through elaborate vetting means. The Myth encourages champions of conservative posturing to back down because black voters are fully aware of the character of the men and women that they place in office. Like all Americans the political process has been taught poorly and highjacked by fear and faux racial identity (http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/do-atlantans-know-their-city...). In August 1861, Phineas Parkhurst Quimby wrote:

"It is laughable to hear people talking about political parties and claiming to belong to this or that party, just as though parties
never change their principles. This error arises from the fact that
all parties spring up in opposition to some measure or ambition
of a few politicians. They get up a false issue and talk about it
till the people believe it; then a party is started and the people
attach themselves to it without the slightest idea of the principles
or whether there is any principle at all."

Ignorance rather than enlightenment prevail because we choose not to openly debate a thing for fear that one might not be "black enough" or labeled "white". Even the "elite" Black liberal often lacks cognizance of the election process (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdlytlyC5Kg). Hence, for organizations like the American Conservative Party (http://theamericanconservatives.org/cms/) it is time to reach Black America through dialogue at the kitchen table and in the pews. The principles of conservatism rather promoted by Russell Kirk, Ronald Reagan or Thomas Sowell will outlast any debate lathered in false racial epithets, fallacies of political history and fear of social identity. Likewise, in the words of the great Negro President, Barack Obama, it is time now for such conservative groups to pursue the ultimate prize: the thoughts and hearts of the rest of America. How many barriers are you willing to cross to preach a truth built on fact and not fiction? Republicans have accepted the "No Trespass" Sign because bi-party politics and gamesmanship allowed such foolishness. However, today, the US Constitution is at risk. We need all hands on deck to carry forth the conservative cause and to vanquish the slothful occupiers of Urban American: the Democrat Party. There is no greater special interest than the US Constitution. It is worthy to hurdle the Myth, to slide through the status quo and open the door to freedom, liberty and pursuit of happiness for all people.
