Traditional Marriage: Our Best Social Program

As a creative patriot ( color obvious ) my duty is to make sure more urban youth have parents like these beautiful kids in the portrait gracing this article.

 

The best vehicle for doing so is the traditional family, a unit defined by the holy union of a man and woman. Black children need fathers in their lives, not alternatives.

 

Traditional marriage is our best social program. It dominates as the most effective initiative for enhancing crime prevention; education; teen pregnancy and quality of life- period!

 

This dominance isn't merely confined to America. Traditional marriage is the best social program in human history.

 

Liberals and even well meaning libertarians seek to reduce traditional marriage to just another option available to free people.

 

While government can mandate to recognize civil unions; the definition of marriage ultimately rests with faith communities, who overwhelmingly see marriage as between a man and woman.

 

Black America has a crisis in heterosexual unions, where children are produced with no direction and scant resources. 

 

Promoting gay marriage in the face of such a crisis is criminal. Insuring gay citizens aren't harassed or discriminated against makes better sense.

 

Our children need their parents together as traditional families infinitely more than worrying about what gay Americans do in their private lives.

 

Conservatives and traditionalists agree on one social program above all others: traditional marriage!  

 

Look at that portrait and tell me every Black child ( or any American youth ) doesn't deserve a loving mother and father.

 

I'm blessed- I had a three-parent household: my grand parents and divorced mother.

 

Today's children, especially in the Black community, aren't so fortunate.

 

Activists and politicians must preserve traditional marriage as an unquestioned norm!

Amen! Now we just need to find a way to free enough minds from the dem plantation to fulfill the dream instead the delusion being offered. I am amazed at how many folks see how bad things are under the wonderful one, but refuse to acknowledge the truth. for too long we have allowed others to choose our leaders- Al Sharptons of the world! Nonsense! It 's not event that people are ignorant - they can see what is happening but the enemy has blinded them to the truth. Even when Black folks are doing much worse, they often choose the symbol over substance; the promise of a check over the prospect of a career and pension! Another issues that we continue to deny is national security. Benghazi matters! Obama's unwillingness to view radical Islam realistically puts us all at risk.

Extending freedom to others isn't a threat to my own freedom. It seems symptomatic if the conservative mind to believe that freedom is finite and can only be spread so far. "Traditional American freedom" didn't include slaves, and certainly many Americans felt threatened by emancipation and the civil rights movement.

I would agree that marriage is a social institution that does great good. I thoroughly enjoy my own marriage. The more people who agree to support and look out for each other, the better. I see no reason to discriminate against people who wish to enjoy the freedoms I do because of who they love. I cannot imagine a good god who would discourage love, either. In fact, since people who support "traditional marriage" so frequently make their case about God, faith, and holiness, I think it's important to remember how those arguments have been used in America's past:

And, but for the interference with his arrangement, there would be no cause for such marriage. Black children, perhaps more than any others, need two parent, male/female homes. THAT'S my concern. I don't demonize gay people I just question Obama's championing of gay marriage when marriage in his community is nearly extinct.

I guess I don't see how those two things are related, or why you believe that only male/female homes are good for black children. What would you like the President to do here? I wouldn't consider it the job of a president to preach that any people should get married. It seems to me that he sets a good example in his own family life- I'm not sure what else we can ask.

On the other hand, it is clearly the job of a president to ensure that the freedoms of all Americans are respected- and that should include Americans who are gay.

Here are my suggestions for improving families (and saving taxpayer money):

- Improve family planning services and education so that people don't continue to make one mistake (like having a child as a young teen) that leads to another (like a "shotgun" marriage that probably won't last). 

- End the war on drugs. It disproportionately impacts black Americans and permanently alters the future prospects of many young people- making it harder for them to find and keep jobs that support their family.
